AIMP1: multifunctional regulator in physiology and pathology with therapeutic implications.

Abstract
Open AccessAminoacyl tRNA synthetase complex interacting multifunctional protein 1 (AIMP1), also referred to as p43, serves as an auxiliary factor of the macromolecular aminoacyl tRNA synthetase complex. Beyond its classical role in the assembling the multisynthetase complex (MSC) for protein translation, growing evidence has elucidated that AIMP1 plays a pivotal role in regulating immune response, brain function and angiogenesis. Furthermore, accumulating studies have demonstrated that AIMP1 is involved in a spectrum of pathological processes, including cancer, immunity associated disorders, and neurological diseases. Herein, we summarize the current research regarding the functions of AIMP1 under both physiological and pathological conditions, with a particular focus on its therapeutic potential in these diseases.
