Abstract
Open AccessThe vast majority of benign focal liver lesions are incidentally discovered in imaging exams performed in a variety of clinical scenarios. Such detection has increased as a result of technological progress and in the increasingly frequent use of different imaging methods. Focal imaging findings pose diagnostic dilemmas, and therefore, the consequent challenge of how to treat them. This review will analyze the most frequent benign focal liver lesions and their appearance on different imaging techniques. Moreover, emphasis will be placed on the characteristics that help to narrow the differential diagnosis and eventually suggest a specific diagnosis.
