Abstract
Open AccessBackground: Post-hysterectomy pain can hinder recovery. Non-pharmacological interventions, like back muscle strengthening exercises, may offer effective relief. Objective: To assess the effect of back muscle strengthening exercises on pain among post-hysterectomy women. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pre-test/post-test study was conducted on 60 post-hysterectomy women at a tertiary hospital. The experimental group (n = 30) received a six-day exercise program; controls (n = 30) received standard care. Pain scores were measured on Day 1 and Day 7. Paired t-tests and Chi-square tests were used for analysis. Results: Pain scores in the experimental group significantly decreased from 7.80 ± 1.92 to 4.03 ± 2.18 (P < 0.0001). Age, surgery type, and education showed significant associations with pain reduction. Conclusion: Back muscle strengthening exercises significantly reduce post-hysterectomy pain and should be considered in routine postoperative care.
