Perception of Customers on Adopting Near-Field Communication on Mobile Payments - Path for Future Payments.

Background of the Objective: The goal of this study was to comprehend the emerging technology that enables short-range data exchange between mobile devices. As NFC technology has a great capacity, making it convenient to transact payments through mobile phones in short distance for the users. The purpose of this study is to investigate how consumers view the benefits and drawbacks of using NFC mobile payments technology. Materials and Methods: This study employs ANOVA and the Chi square test for data analysis, and the results are presented using well-structured questionnaires. 200 people participated in the study, which was conducted in Chennai. The Chi Square Test has been performed to determine how frequently consumers use NFC mobile payments. The advantages and disadvantages of NFC mobile payments have been determined using the ANOVA test. Results: There are more female respondents than male respondents, with 154 female respondents and 46 male respondents, according to the output. In terms of age, 85.1% of respondents are between the ages of 18 and 24, followed by 11.9% who are between the ages of 25 and 34. In terms of monthly income, the majority of respondents (68.8%) fall between 10,000 and 20,000, with 15.8% falling between 12,000 and 30,000. 45.2% of respondents said they were unfamiliar with NFC technology. Furthermore, the majority of respondents have not utilized NFC technology. Additionally, NFC digital payments are used by 61.4% of respondents. 21.4% of respondents reported using NFC payments on a daily basis. According to the Chi square test, there is a significant correlation between the frequency of NFC mobile payments and the P value of.000, which is less than 0.05. According to ANOVA results, the convenience (0.000), security (0.026), speed (0.004), and ease of use (0.001) of NFC mobile payments have P values less than 0.05. Next, It analysed to know the people have used NFC payments and how they see the drawbacks of NFC mobile payments, where the P value is less than 0.05 for security threats (0.10) and technical challenges (0.019). Conclusion: According to the study's findings, consumers believe NFC mobile payments are practical and simple to use, but adoption is hampered by security concerns and ignorance. Therefore, I draw the conclusion that consumers should be made aware of the use of NFC payments since they will be highly beneficial for cashless transactions.
