Abstract
Open AccessIntroduction: Telemedicine has seen a surge in popularity due to the need for remote patient care caused by quarantine measures. Telemedicine has been extensively used for teleradiology, telepathology, and telepsychiatry throughout the pandemic. Telemedicine's future extends beyond general consultations to include specialist fields like tele-oncology, tele-surgery, and tele-ophthalmology. Methods: The study was conducted using a cross-sectional survey design to collect data from inpatients diagnosed with cancer at a private tertiary care hospital in Metro City. Data was collected from March 18, 2024, to June 17, 2024. Participants were selected through convenience sampling, and 50 inpatient cancer patients were included. Results: The accessibility of the Internet is widespread, but better reach is required for rural and urban areas. The analysis of future telemedicine utilization reveals a strong positive outlook, with 78% of patients expressing interest in participating in future telemedicine opportunities. Conclusion: Overall, telemedicine can potentially improve cancer care, but addressing the remaining concerns and limitations is essential to ensure optimal use.
