A novel angulated cannula technique for Laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) flap repositioning in left eyes by right-handed surgeons.

Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is one of the most commonly performed kerato-refractive surgery globally. Over the years we have observed that there has been difficulty in flap reposition using the conventional obtuse blunt cannulas, especially in left eyes of patients by right handed surgeons due to obscuration by the nasal bridge and hence difficult manipulation of the flap often leading to jerky and premature entry beneath the flap. This further leads to flap misalignment or incomplete repositioning. Here in we describe a novel interesting approach of cannula angulation which improves the surgeon's ability to reposit the flap accurately and with ease, as it allows for a better angle of insertion and more controlled movements and also reduces operating room time.
