Abstract
Open AccessWe theoretically demonstrate that nonmagnetic silicon nanodisk dimers, under plane-wave illumination, can achieve electric dipole mode-free by suppressing electric dipole responses at magnetic resonance frequencies through structural parameter tuning. This is enabled by the anapole mode, where destructive interference between Cartesian electric and toroidal dipole moments results in low spherical electric dipole scattering. Furthermore, the magnetic resonance responses in this nanostructure are tunable within the visible spectrum and compatible with current nanofabrication technology.
