Open AccessThe structural characteristics of gear parts are analyzed, and appropriate point cloud processing flow is formulated. Taking the Geomagic system as the computing platform and taking spur gears and spiral bevel gear gears as examples, the forward and reverse hybrid modelling is carried out, and a solid model that meets the accuracy requirements is obtained, which verifies the effectiveness of the hybrid modelling. A 3D printing process is then carried out on the generated solid model, and the corresponding process parameters are set to obtain a feasible physical model. This hybrid modelling + rapid prototyping solution can effectively improve the design efficiency of products, reduce product development costs, and improve the competitiveness of enterprises.
