Abstract
Open AccessA high-gain circularly polarized (CP) slot array antenna is developed in the current work, based on ridge gap waveguide (RGW) technology for V-band applications. This antenna operates in the unlicensed 60-GHz band, which is designed for high-data-rate wireless communication systems. An asymmetric T-shaped slot is utilized in this design as the radiating element, ensuring compactness and lessening grating lobes. The array's structure features a 16 × 16 planar configuration and a corporate feed network. As shown by experimental and simulated results, there is a 3-dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth and an impedance bandwidth of 6.6% spanning the frequency range of 58 to 62 GHz. Thus, an efficiency of up to 90% and a peak gain of 29.2 dBi is achieved. The performance of the manufactured antenna, encompassing gain, radiation patterns, and reflection coefficient, has been verified, indicating strong consistency with the simulation results. This design is well-suited for mmWave applications, which require a compact structure, circular polarization, and high gain.
