Nitrogen-doped ordered mesoporous carbons based on covalent triazine framework as the dopant for biodiesel production.

Abstract
Open AccessN-Doped mesoporous carbons, NMCs, have attracted the growing interest of many scientists in various scientific fields, including catalysis and energy conversion/storage. The NMCs were prepared using the template method, SBA-15 as the template, and covalent triazine framework as carbon and nitrogen precursors. These NMC materials exhibit high catalytic activity in the metal-free catalytic esterification of methanol and biodiesel with a total yield of up to 94% at 80˚C in 5 h. The recycled N-doped mesoporous carbons had no obvious change in catalytic performance after four consecutive cycles, indicating their durability and recyclability. Additionally, all the evaluated physicochemical characteristics adhere to ASTM standards. Consequently, it has been determined that eucalyptus is a suitable crop for the production of biodiesel.
