Abstract
Open AccessA 76-year-old male, diagnosed with type 2 diabetes one year prior, was prescribed dapagliflozin. Imaging revealed perirenal effusion resembling "sweating kidneys".The exact mechanism of SGLT2 inhibitor-induced perirenal exudation remains unclear, but hypotheses include volume depletion that leads to increased renal capsule permeability, inflammation of urinary infections that extends to the kidneys, and hypersensitivity reactions that cause swelling and fluid exudation.
