Abstract
Open AccessPatients with intractable pneumothorax often have complex backgrounds, such as extensive pleural adhesions throughout the thoracic cavity, making treatment challenging. Therefore, it is important to tailor treatment options to each patient on the basis of their individual background. We report an alternative surgical technique for the treatment of intractable pneumothorax: plugging the cicatricial tunnel (intrathoracic adhesion membrane structure) with polyglycolic acid sheets by video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery using local anesthesia.
