Abstract
Open AccessThrombocytopenia (TCP) is a well-known contraindication for thrombolytic therapy due to the associated risk of bleeding. This report discusses a 34-year-old woman presented with massive pulmonary embolism (PE) and severe TCP. She was treated with systemic thrombolysis (ST), and fortunately, a good therapeutic response was achieved without significant bleeding. Further evaluations confirmed the diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome for the patient. This case highlights that ST can be a viable therapeutic option for managing massive PE in thrombocytopenic patients under specific circumstances, warranting further research into its safety and efficacy.
